Solar energy is an abundant, renewable, and non-polluting energy resource. Its conversion to electricity will reduce dependence on nonrenewable energy and decrease the air pollution generated by the use of conventional energy sources.
Regulating of the siting and installation of solar arrays is necessary for the purpose of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of neighboring property owners, the environment, the general public, and the overall character of the Town of Moreau.
A solar law was drafted but the supervisor and two town board members chose not to move forward. Due to inaction by the current administration, there is no local law regulating the placement of solar arrays in the town. This is not acceptable.
We plan to create, with input from the public, a fair and comprehensive solar law for our town.
